What Tariffs Mean for Brides and How We are Navigating it Together

At Miss Ruby Bridal, we’ve always been steadfast in honoring our values; one of them being authenticity. Giving our brides a beautiful experience when finding their dream dress has been our “why” since the very beginning - we’re committed to guiding our brides to the gowns that speaks to them. In staying committed to being authentic and out of respect for our brides, we want to be completely transparent about an important change that’s impacting the bridal industry and what that means for you, as the bride.

In recent weeks, the U.S. government has enacted new tariffs that affect all purchases of products made outside of the United States. With most production of bridal gowns/fabrics being done overseas, the bridal industry is definitely feeling an impact. While these changes are outside of our control, we are doing everything we can to minimize the impact on our brides;including absorbing as much of the costs as we can. However, there are some dresses that will incur a tariff surcharge moving forward.  We are doing our best to keep these as minimal as possible for you & will make sure to let you know what to expect as you are shopping for your dress.

What Brides Need To Know:

  • Some gowns will have an additional tariff fee added effective immediately. Most designers are implementing a “Tariff Surcharge”. This is a very transparent way to break down the costs and see exactly what you’re paying for.

  • These fees vary by designer and may change at any time. Currently surcharges range from $100-$425.

  • If staying within a specific price point is important to you (and we totally understand if it is!) PLEASE let your stylist know. We’re more than happy to guide you toward options where the tariff impact is lower, so that we stay within your comfortable price point.

  • We are hoping these fees are temporary as our representatives and our community continue to advocate for change.

We know this is an incredibly frustrating situation — especially during a time that should be exciting and memorable. We’re right there with you. This shift is something our entire industry is struggling with. Rest assured, our team is working hard to find the most transparent, supportive, and positive way forward for our brides. And our designers are doing the same. We are fighting for change and the entire industry is doing what we can to move forward in the best way. We want to encourage you to use your power by voting, standing up against tariffs, and helping in the following ways...

Sign a Petition

  • If you would like to join in advocating for change, there is an electronic petition from well known bridal designers HERE that we ask you to sign, it only takes a minute! This petition asks for an exclusion of bridal & formalwear designers from these tariffs — because the reality is, there currently is no infrastructure in the U.S. to produce wedding gowns at accessible price points.

Call Our Representatives

  • If you’re feeling called to make your voice heard, we encourage you to reach out to your representatives! Here are a few links to Wisconsin officials that can advocate for change and how to find out who your local representatives are!

Find out who your representatives are: https://5calls.org/issue/trump-tariffs-canada-mexico/

Here is a sample of what to say when making these phone calls:

“Hi, my name is [NAME] and I’m a constituent from Milwaukee.

I'm calling to demand that Rep. Gwen Moore support bipartisan legislation like the Trade Review Act of 2025 to reclaim Congress’s authority over US trade policy and block Trump’s destructive and nonsensical tariffs. These tariffs are a multi trillion dollar tax increase on Americans and are already wreaking havoc on our economy. These tariffs must be stopped before things get worse.

Thank you for your time and consideration.”

We wholeheartedly believe our brides shouldn’t have to sacrifice style, quality, or price point just to say “yes” to the dress they fall in love with! Supporting small, local, brick-and-mortar shops, like ours, who are deeply invested in our communities during this time is also incredibly important!

With all that being said - thank you from the bottom of our hearts for bearing with us as we navigate this evolving situation. We’re committed to transparency, authenticity and giving our brides the experience that they deserve when finding the dress of their dreams!

With love,

The Miss Ruby Team
