Shopping Tips for Curvy Brides

Curvy Brides...this is the blog for you! We believe that shopping for your wedding dress should be relaxing, fun and stress-free! You deserve to feel comfortable, confident and beautiful throughout every step of your dress shopping process which is why we've compiled our best tips to help you prepare for your upcoming appointment at Miss Ruby!

Decide What Miss Ruby Experience is Best for You

There are so many different appointments to choose from! Knowing which one is best for you is a very key part to making your shopping experience super successful! Do you prefer a quieter, more calm environment? Or would you love to be surrounded by the energy of other bride-to-be's? Browse our appointment options HERE or give the boutique a call to talk to a stylist about which appointment fits you best!

Browse our Curvy Pinterest Board

By browsing our collections on our Pinterest page you will have the chance to get a peek at all the gorgeous gowns you will see in store! If you have ideas or photos of your own, those are always helpful to show your stylist so that they understand your style. Every gown in store is chosen with our brides in mind and our curvy collection was specially curated to make our brides feel secure, supported, confident, and beautiful!

Complete your Bridal “Love story” Document

You will find the pre-appointment “love story” form in your appointment confirmation text message. By filling this out your Miss Ruby Stylist will be able to select gowns they know you’ll love before you even arrive!

Imagine the Way You Want to Feel in Your Gown

These are non-negotiable characteristics about the dress that you need! It is so important to know the way that you want to feel in your dress when you put it on. This will help you differentiate your wedding dress from all the other dresses you try on! Whether you want to feel supported or sexy, your stylist will pull gowns that leave you feeling your most confident self!

Wear Comfortable Undergarments

When you are coming in to try on wedding gowns we would recommend that you wear the undergarments that make you feel the most comfortable and confident! Most brides prefer nude seamless underwear, a nude strapless bra, and sometimes spanx/shapewear. Whatever you choose to wear is totally fine with us. As long as you feel amazing in your own skin, that’s all that matters!

Come Open-Minded to Different Styles

We ALWAYS encourage every bride to come in very open-minded about the dress shopping process. Our stylists are trained to know exactly which gowns are going to make you feel the way you want to feel on your big day! Even though a dress that your stylist pulls may not have the exact lace you love, they may have pulled it because they know that when you put it on you will feel amazing in it! Maybe you thought that you would NEVER wear a fitted gown but your stylist has one in mind that they think is going to make you feel incredible… just try it, you never truly know until you try.

Prepare to be Celebrated

Our stylists are here to empower you and hype you up. We want to help you love the skin you're in! We are ALL about the celebration here at Miss Ruby! From the minute you walk through the door to the moment you say “I do”, you are sure to feel empowered and loved. Your stylist is here to support you through the entire process! So if you have questions, concerns, or insecurities that you are comfortable sharing, your stylist will help be there to give you what you need during your appointment and beyond.

Make a Reservation at Your Favorite Third Ward Restaurant to Continue the Celebration

YOU SAID YES TO THE DRESS! Yay! The best way to continue the celebration is by stopping by your favorite spot downtown for a drink or a meal. Spend quality time with your loved ones and cherish these moments together. Need recommendations? Our team is more than happy to share our favorites with you!
